Formed.
March 15th 1931,
Member’s resident in East Kent held a meeting at Barham,
near Canterbury, at which it was decided to form a D.A.
The proposed area of the D.A. was that part of Kent,
East of a line drawn between Sittingbourne and Tunbridge
Wells but excluding the latter. A committee was formed.
March 27th,
1st Committee meeting- Mr A.J.Ross. Elected Chairman. Mr
H. Jackson, Secretary, Mr P. Wright,Vice Chairman.
Committee,Mr.M.W.Cullington.
Mr.J.H.K.Blundell,B.Sc(Bridge), Miss W.E. Smith.and
Mr.E.F.Prescott.
April 18th -19th
1st Meet held at Duskin Farm, Kingston,nr Canterbury, 6
Units attended.
1951
East Kent were joined by Sussex to form E.K. &
Sussex.D.A
1952
Now East Kent D.A. only, as Sussex formed own D.A. Derek
Beal of Ramsgate, became 1st Boy to pass Youth test.
1956
March 11th.Celebrated 25th Anniversary at Barham Village
Hall.
September. Silver Jubilee F.O.L. with the Shears Cup
Awarded for the best lantern display.
1967
The 1st D.A. C.C.Y. Group was formed with Les Bourner
the Youth Leader.
1971
40th Anniversary Meet held at Duskin Farm where the 1st
meet was held in 1931.
1976
The 1st Children’s Charity meet for Glebe House was held
at Broad Oak, Mersham. Charity meet ongoing ever since.
1981
50th Anniversary celebrated at Wingfield Farm, Eastling.
2006
75th Anniversary celebrated at Painters Farm, Faversham.
