Camping Club Youth

Welcome to the Camping Club Youth & Camping Club Juniors Page of East Kent DA

Background

Since forming in Easter 2010 we have become the largest Junior and Youth Section in the South East Region with approximately 20 young people across the two sections regularly camping with us.

The Appointed Youth Officers are Heather and Jon Hayward, and we are also fortunate to have Claire and Danny Notley as our Assistant Youth Officers. At present, Heather and Jon focus on the Youth section while Claire and Danny are focusing on the Junior section.

So far in 2011 we have had Youth and Junior areas at all our larger meets. We also had a group of Youth members at the South East Regional meet where we all dressed up as 1940s Evacuees! In July, we held a Youth training weekend that the parents weren't allowed to attend!

In the winter months we plan a variety of activities so that we can still meet up and have fun.

If you’d like to join us then please either email us at eastkentda.youth@googlemail.com or come and see us at the next meet.

Camping Club Juniors

The CCJ is aimed at bringing up our young members, from the age of 8 - 12 in preparation for the Camping Club Youth. The members camp in a special CCJ area at the larger DA meets, but have their meals with their parents (and remain their parents' responsibility at all times). They can take part in fun, games and camping related activities.

Please remember that the CCJ is not a child minding service!

The CCJ is provided as a fun way of enabling the children to learn about camping and also to have an enjoyable time. Membership of the CCJ is FREE!

Camping Club Youth

This group is for the 12-17 year olds and in addition to learning new skills like selecting the best campsites, pitching tents, cooking, map reading and first aid; this group could also get to attend the National Youth Rally. CCY members can camp without their parents being on site. We have put together a suggested kit list for a CCY member - do not worry if you can’t get hold of all the kit, we can lend some from a pool stock if need be. Have a look at the kit list here.

Membership of the CCY is also FREE and if you pass your youth test it continues to be free until your 21st birthday. All you need to do is complete an Application form to join, which can be found here or see Heather or Jon for a paper version. We also need you to fill in a medical permission form which is also available to download on this page. The medical form needs to be given to one of the leaders on your first meet and it must be renewed each year.
